SNACK SHACK SHIFT TIPS

1.        Arrive 15 minutes before game time.

2.        Bring a bag of ice with you every shift, every parent. This is especially important on hot days.

3.        Menu clearly states giveaway items—as well as NO GIVEAWAY items.

4.        Take a quick inventory. If anything crucial is too low (water, Gatorade, etc.) please text Concessions Director immediately. If you notice inventory on foodstuffs is low on any item, please also notify us.

5.        Umpire money is clearly labeled and in an envelope in the safe. The umpire will come at end of game and request it. Also offer the ump a free water. Code to safe is same as shack.

CLOSING TIPS

  1. Wipe down counters. Leave the shack as you would like to find it at the start of your shift.
  2. Overflow cashbox money goes in envelope in safe.
  3. Close up moneybox and put in safe. Lock safe.
  4. Empty coolers of all water and ice and leave open to discourage mold growth.
  5. Bring in the kiddie stairs. At Westlake HS make sure to bin all foodstuffs (not drinks), seal bins, drag in everything that was pulled out, secure flap doors with metal pins.
  6. Clean up all trash around and inside shack.
  7. All empty boxes to trashcans. Empty trashcans, take bags to Dumpster, reline cans.
  8. Make sure to lock up when you leave.

DEAR CONCESSIONS PARENTS AND MANAGERS:

Three rules:

SHOW UP

CLEAN UP

LOCK UP

Aside from the information you will get during our meeting there is other information you will need in this email.

ASSIGNING YOUR TEAM’S PARENTS TO SNACK SHACK DUTY

See schedule for when games start.

Attached you will find an excel spreadsheet with tabs at the bottom. Find your division. Then look at all the games for your team.

Please create a schedule assigning your team’s parents to the snack shack for each game of the season starting with the first game. Do it alphabetically to discourage whining. Some families may have to do it more than once. Then let them know that if they cannot make it on that day it is UP TO THEM to find another parent/family to switch with (you don’t want to have to worry about this, trust me) and let you know. Best to include phone numbers and email addresses from the roster to make it easy for them. Also, remind them if there is no one to man the snack shack that your team FORFEITS THE GAME. Remind them to bring ice every time they are manning the snack shack, to clean up after themselves. Price sheets will be in each snack shack.

OPENING AND CLOSING SNACK SHACK EVERY GAME DAY

The teams listed first on the spreadsheet are the home teams. THE HOME TEAM FOR THE FIRST GAME OF THE DAY EVERY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OPENING UP SNACK SHACK.

THE HOME TEAM FOR THE LAST GAME OF THE DAY EVERY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY MUST CLOSE UP THE SNACK SHACK. Every field has an opening parent and a closing parent for the snack shacks.

Your team’s manager should have already given you a roster with your team families’ info on it. If not, bug them.

NO CHILDREN UNDER AGE 16 IN ANY SNACK SHACK AT ANY TIME. Our insurance does not cover us.

Thanks and have a great opening day!

Lisa

THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING!
