	April 24, 2013 Junior Falcons Celebrate 10 Years: From a humble beginning of 75 players on three squads, the Junior Falcon program has grown to a full four squads with over 150 players plus cheerleaders per season in recent years. Several former Junior Falcons have gone on to earn recognition on the PVL All-League 1^st and 2^nd team rosters over the years. Colfax joined the Sagebrush Empire League of Pop Warner in their first year. Most games were played in Nevada…between Carson City and Sparks. The following year the Sacramento Youth Football League was created with Center, Colfax, Highlands and Rio Linda being the first four teams. Unlike Pop Warner, there was no weight limitation per age group and all four squads played the same opponent on the same day making it easier for parents with children on different squads, including cheerleaders, to stay at the one venue. The success of the SYF philosophy has seen the program grow to a four-division, 34-team league. Team successes have resulted in Pee Wee and Junior Midget championships. Colfax is in the Golden Valley Conference with Bella Vista, Christian Brothers, Center, Casa Robles, Dixon, El Camino and Foothill. Ken Delfino Public Relations Director

2013 Player and Cheer Registration

Welcome to the 2013 Colfax Junior Falcons! Registration for 2013 season will be available on the following dates: Saturday May 4th from 11am-1pm at Mountain Mikes in Meadow Vista Wednesday May 15th from 6pm-8pm at Colfax Pizza Factory in Colfax Sunday June 2nd at the Pioneer Day in Meadow Vista Park Online registration begins May 1st What you need for your player: black socks, girdle, attachable mouth piece, large H2O bottle Cheerleaders need to be registered by July 13th, uniform fittings will be on July 14th! A $25 late registration fee will be applied after July 26th Equipment pick up for players will be July 26th and 27th, location TBD.

Tyler Nickerson Memorial Information

There are many great things in the works to honor Tyler. More idea's and kind thoughts are being suggested. Please share your thoughts and ideas by speaking too or emailing a Board Member. Here is what is happening currently:

The Board retired Tyler's jersey #60 on Thursday August 9th. This will be written in the by-laws and remembered forever.
There has been a Tyler Nickerson memorial fund started. Everyone is encouraged to donate. It it available through US Bank under the Tyler Nickerson Memorial Fund. This was set up by Melissa's boss at Compora.
There is a plan in the works, proposed by the CJF Board of Directors, to develop and maintain a scholarship program for graduating high school seniors. This scholarship would be for graduates that have gone through the Junior Falcons Program. This is just in the planning stages, please stay tuned as we move forward in the next few weeks. The thought is it would be called the Tyler Nickerson Memorial Scholarship, nothing is set in stone so please share ideas.

BOARD MEETINGS

Please join us at a board meeting! Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at the Colfax Pizza Factory in front of Sierra Market. Meetings start at 6pm.
