Burn Ban is Back in Effect
Updated date: Thursday, August 13, 2015 1:19 PM

Grilling in all City of Austin parks, greenbelts and preserves pursuant to Ordinance No. 20111102-025, effective immediately. This includes the use of wood or charcoal BBQ pits/grilles/smokers. Violations of this burn ban may result in a fine between $300 and $500.

PROPANE grills are allowed in designated picnic areas only. Propane grills must be in good working order, including hoses and connections.

Smoking, glass and Styrofoam are already prohibited in all Austin parks.

The temporary ban is necessary to ensure the safety of park patrons, surrounding communities and in an effort to minimize the risk of a wildfire in the department?s parks and greenbelts. The department will continue to evaluate the fire hazard conditions and will lift the ban as soon as conditions will allow. A media advisory will be distributed when a date to end the burn ban in the Austin Parks and Recreation Department system is determined.

New Rates for Hourly Reservation
Updated date: Friday, November 7, 2014 12:12 PM

Starting in January 2015, new rates for hourly reservations will take into effect.

The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) is implementing a resident and non-resident fee structure approved by Austin City Council beginning Fiscal  Year 2014-2015. Residents of Austin property taxes contribute directly to support the operations of the City of Austin. The non-resident rate ensures that individuals living outside of Austin contribute to the funding of the City of Austin on an equal basis with residents.
