CCSL Update

As a general statement of explanation, CYSA has dropped the terms “select” and “division III” and designated that all teams playing in CCSL as “competitive” teams for the 2011-2012 playing season.  This change will have no impact on the CA Blues, the league’s competitive club but has caused some misunderstandings about the status of the old “select” teams. The previous “select” teams will not change in the manner in which they are formed, managed or where they will expect to play.  All things shall remain the same except for the name.

We will have to wait and see what changes take place in the Association Cup and the District Cup for 2012.

Competitive Club:  This club is formed across the league with the express purpose of developing teams to compete at the highest level both state-wide and nation-wide. Player development is geared towards preparing players for college soccer and national team play. These clubs are structured to draw players from across the league to pull together the top talent to create the league’s most competitive teams.

Club based Comp. teams: These teams will be formed at the club level of play to provide an extended season of play, enhanced player development, and higher level of competition than recreation teams.  These teams will be designated as being in the competitive program but at the club level.

Recreational Teams:
These teams will be formed at the club level to provide a fun and exciting soccer experience for the seasonal soccer player.

Teams are generally formed on a school basis.
