SOFTBALL PROGRAM FAQ'S

1.      What night’s do the different Softball League’s play on?

ü  League nights are never guaranteed due to the unknown number of teams registered each year, but we tentatively play: Men’s 50+ on Monday’s, Women's A-E on Tuesday’s, Men’s D on Wednesday’s, Men’s C on Thursday’s, and ALL Coed games on Sunday’s.

2.      How and where do I register my team?

ü  Go to www.albanyparksandrecreation.org/sports, Click the "Register Now" button, then choose your sport of choice and follow the online instructions as you go through the process.

3.      How do I pay my teams fees?

ü  Team fees may be paid over the phone with a debit or credit card at 541-917-7777 ext 0 or Send a check or pay cash in person to Albany Parks and Recreation at 333 Broadalbin St, Albany OR 97321. Remember! You must FIRST register your team online before a payment can be made.

4.      What is the cost for the different leagues?

ü  Team’s fees vary depending on whether it is a double header league or a single header league. Men’s 50+ = $760, Men’s A thru D = $980, Women’s A thru E = $980, and Coed A thru E = $550

5.      Where are games played?

ü  Games are played at Timber Linn Park and Bryant Park. If you go to the sports website at www.albanyparksandrecreation.org/sports and click on the Welcome Center tab at the top of the page, then click the Sports Location Sites drop down, you will find addresses and Google map links for all sports locations.

6.      How many games does each league play?

ü  Double Header leagues play 18 games with single elimination playoffs and Single Header leagues play 8 games with single elimination playoffs.

7.      How many games per week do the leagues play?

ü  Double Header leagues play two games per week, but play both games only one night per week on their leagues designated night. Single Header leagues play one game per week on the same night each week based on their leagues designated night. The exception to this would be RAIN OUT make ups, which may force a team to play on an alternate night or increase their games to 2 or 3 games per night depending on the league of play.

8.      Are there playoffs? How many teams make the playoffs?

ü  Yes, we run single elimination playoffs for each division. The top 4 teams from each division are guaranteed to make the playoffs, but in many cases we create extra playoff spots, so more teams can enjoy a playoff setting.

9.      Where do I find league rules?

ü  If you go to the website at www.albanyparksandrecreation.org/sports and click the Downloadable Files tab at the top of the page, you will see rules documents under the softball section.

10.  Does my team have to have team jerseys?

ü  Yes, we require all teams to have matching jersey’s or t-shirts, with a minimum of the team name on the front and a number on the back. See ruling in the rules section.

11.  What are the bat guidelines for the Albany league?

ü  The Albany Softball Program follows the 2012 USSSA bat guidelines for its league play and has not adopted the 2013 rule restrictions on bats manufactured prior to 2012.

12.  Where are the Softball Tournament listings for Albany?

ü  If you go to our website at www.albanyparksandrecreation.org/sports and click the Tournament Listings tab, you find a one listing of all tournaments as well as a separate page for each individual tournament with details and contact information for that specific tournament.

13.  How do I add my name to the “Free Agent” list?

ü  If you go to our website at www.albanyparksandrecreation.org/sports and click the Sports Free Agent Information tab, you find information on how to have your information added to the free agent list as well as be able to view who is currently on the free agent list.

14.  Are concessions available at both complexes?

ü  Yes, a full service concessions service will be offered at both complexes.
