If you want to experience tennis for the first time or just improve your game, the Albany Parks and Recreation Department has a tennis class for you! We are fortunate to have Jay Clark as our instructor. Jay is a highly respected player and teacher whose enthusiasm for the game shines through as his students conquer new skills and develop a love for the game. All classes will be held at the Albany Tennis Club @ 1423 SW 27th St. Albany, OR. Rackets are available upon request.

Our APRD youth/adult tennis instructor is the Assistant Teaching Pro at the Albany Tennis Club (ATC). Jay has enjoyed the game of tennis as a teacher, coach, and player for over 28 years. He enjoys teaching both adults and juniors with either recreational or competitive goals in singles and doubles. For the past 18 years, Jay has been the Director of Tennis for APRD Sports where he has taught classes and conducted numerous tennis camps and tournaments.

Jay enjoys playing in leagues and Pacific Northwest tournaments. He has been ranked in the top 5 in singles several times and as high as #1 in the PNW in men's 35 doubles. He has played at the 5.0 level of USTA league tennis for the past 12 years and captained several PNW Southern Oregon Championship teams. Jay was born and raised in Albany. He spent 4 years in the US Navy. He currently lives in Albany with with his wife Debbie and his two daughters Chelsea and Madison.

RACKETEERS (Ages 9-13)
Be introduced to the basics of playing tennis including grips, ground stroke, positioning, and game strategy with kids your own age in this class designed for the beginning student.

INTERMEDIATE TENNIS CAMP (Middle and High School)
Here is a great opportunity for middle and high school age players to build and refine their tennis skills. This year's camp will offer 12 hours of expert instruction in just one week. Jay will help you improve every facet of your game including ground strokes, serving, your service return, net game, and match strategy. Students should have previously taken beginning or intermediate levels classes or have a good background in tennis. Tennis camp will be held at the West Albany High School Tennis Courts 1130 Southwest Queen Avenue.

2017 ALL-CITY TENNIS TOURNAMENT
