WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON!

Glove/Mitt:

For divisions above T-Ball we recommend considering a quality leather glove, but most importantly not a cheap vinyl glove. Often the lesser quality gloves are difficult for kids to open up and shut when it comes to play catch and fielding fly balls. Also make sure the glove is appropriate size for your child. Often we see gloves that are too small for the level of play, or in fact too large.

Bat/Helmet:

The league will supplies all levels with helmets and bats. However in older division, it's not uncommon that parents/kids elect to bring their own. Typically this starts around the Farm Division, but it's entirely a preference of the Parents.

Cleats:

We live in Oregon, and it's recommended kids wear cleats. Especially older divisions. However, it's not a requirement, especially at the younger levels of T-Ball and Rookie.  During Spring we experience quite the variety of weather and often there can be slick conditions where cleats are your best friend.

Softball (Mask) - Baseball (Cup) and Catchers Mask (throat guard):

Please be advised that currently Little League does not mandate the use of face masks for softball players defensively in the field. However CLL will provide one face mask per team for pitchers. All CLL Softball helmets are equipped with face masks, but again are not required by LL.   On the Baseball side, Little League requires all catchers to be equipped with a cup in a proper athletic supporter. Players that are not catching, that are in Farm Division and Above are required to wear a cup!. Rookie and T-Ball are not required in the field, but it's highly recommended.  In addition to cup/athletic support for catchers, any player purchasing their own catching equipment must ensure that the mask is provided with a LL approved dangling throat guard.

Uniforms (Pants/Socks/Jersey/Hat):

The league will always supply each kid, at every level, with jersey/shirt and hat/visor. Socks and pants are not provided. Pants at lower divisions are optional, though we recommend as it's a comfortable and suitable for the activities throughout the season. Upper divisions we suggest buying softball and baseball pants. Uniform jersey/shirt colors per team are not determined until we form teams, verify sizes and place our order for all of our uniforms. At that point we will notify coaches of their respective colors. That can often aide in parents knowing what pant color they wish to purchase. For older divisions, often coaches will talk to their own team about a certain color preference. Younger divisions tend to have less focus on specifics. Socks often follow the same guildline as pants for their respective divisions. Again this is NOT a requirement of the league.

Hopefully this information helps set you up for the season. And yes unfortunately our Nike and Dick's Shopping Days are well before the uniforms are actually ordered. Please understand we work with those companies and are grateful to receive the opportunity and sponsorship support that they grant us. So we have to work around their schedules for best available dates. Based on our league timeline of forming teams, assessments, coach selection, size verification and uniform ordering; we can not match it perfectly with our shopping days. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Thank you,

CLL
