Recreation for everyone! Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is committed to making all of its programs accessible to anyone. Inclusive recreation [PDF] makes programs available to people with disabilities and benefits ALL participants. Inclusion is individuals with and without disabilities participating in recreation activities simultaneously. All MPRB programs are considered inclusive and welcome everyone. The Therapeutic Recreation staff will work with program staff, families, and individuals to provide support using individualized techniques and resources to enhance program participation without fundamentally altering the program.

If you’ve registered for a program and are ready to complete the paperwork required to receive inclusion support, fill out this Inclusion Questionnaire

Adaptive Sports

MPRB currently offers an Adaptive Softball League for adults with disabilities and an Adaptive Sports Sampler for kids with disabilities. These programs provide access to competitive and non-competitive sports that are developed to meet the needs of all participants. Adaptive Sports promote teamwork, athletic abilities, physical fitness, and social skills. MPRB will continue adding sports leagues and programs designed for children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities as the need increases.

If you or someone you know has a disability and is interested in learning more about programs for people with disabilities and how to access MPRB programs, please contact the Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Coordinator
