Youth Hockey is geared for recreational or beginning level play and emphasizes having fun while learning the fundamentals of hockey. The organized leagues teach kids to skate, the rules of hockey and importance of teamwork. Hockey is a great sport to develop physical strength, technique, coordination and agility while meeting new friends.

League Information
January-February, Ages 6-15

  • Guaranteed 7 regular season games
  • Invitational Tournament
  • Leagues are scheduled to play at several locations throughout the city of Minneapolis

Divisions

  • Squirts - Boys and Girls K to 4th Grade
  • 11U - Open
  • 13U - Open
  • 15U - Open
  • Penguins - Girls 3rd to 6th Grade
  • Polar Bears - Girls 7th to 9th Grade

Contact your local Recreation Center directly for Youth Sports League registration information and details. Only Minneapolis teams are eligible for Youth Sports programs and 80% of team members must live within Minneapolis city limits.

Minneapolis residents who cannot afford instructional fees because of economic need may apply for Recreation Fee Assistance.

Minneapolis residents who cannot afford instructional fees because of economic need may apply for fee assistance through the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Fee Assistance Program.
