Golf 2017 - Summer 2017

Academic Year 2017-2018

Boys and Girls Grades 6, 7, 8

The Golf Sports Program is intended for student athletes who have some experience with playing golf.  It is not intended as a solely instructional program.  The student athlete must have his/her own equipment, clubs, balls, tees, etc. He/She must have played golf on a public or private golf course, and be familiar with the rules and etiquette of the game.

The registration fee is a one-time fee to cover the cost of the uniform. There are two additional fees parents will need to pay.   First there is a practice fee of between $9 - $12 for range balls at each practice.  Practice is generally once per week at the Depot.   Second there is a fee for each match played, generally between $7.00 and $15.00 per each nine holes, depending on where the match is played.

The school does not provide transportation to or from the matches or practices.  Parent participation is needed to help oversee the student athletes while they play their matches on the public golf courses.

The golf team is co-ed.  Girls and boys may play in the same foursome during matches, but girls play from the red tees and boys play from the white tees.

There are approximately 12 matches during the season and an end of the year diocesan tournament (18 holes) played in late September on a Saturday.  Other than the year-end tournament, all matches are 9 holes and are played Monday through Friday either in the morning, or in the afternoon.  Since the matches are played during the week, this may allow for dual participation with other sports such as football, soccer, volleyball, or cheerleading.

Flag Football 2017 - Fall 2017

St. Pius X is offering Flag Football, Fall 2017. 

This program is for Grades 1st through 3rd.  It is open to both boys and girls, ages 7-10.  The teams will be made up of St. Pius X students, and public school students who are members of St. Pius X Parish or Seton Parish.

Our teams will compete against other teams in the Reynoldsburg Parks and Recreation Leagues.

Registration is on a first come/first serve basis and it will be limited to 24 players.

There are two enrollment forms that need to be completed.  They are found on this web site by clicking the "downloads" tab or by clicking:   Reynoldsburg 1  and  Reynoldsburg 2

The forms must be printed, filled out, and dropped off by August 4, 2017 at the St. Pius X Parish Office between 9 AM and 4 PM.  Do not return them to the Reynoldsburg Parks & Recreation Department.

If paying by check, the check should by made out to SPXAA and dropped off at the Parish Office when dropping the registration forms off.

Soccer 2017 - Summer 2017

Academic Year 2017-2018

Boys and Girls, Grades 4 through 8

The Soccer Sports Program is intended for student athletes of all skill levels, beginning to experienced.  The goal is to field a boys and girls team at each grade level.  Occasionally a team is formed with students from adjacent grade levels depending upon player participation.

Practices are held at Huber Park, 7300 E. Livingston Ave. in Reynoldsburg.  Before games start there are 2-3 practices per week, and once games start 1-2 practices per week.  Practices are generally 90 minutes long.

Home games are held at Huber Park, and away games are held at other diocesan schools.  There are ten regular season games, and a season-ending weekend diocesan tournament.  There is not one specific day that games are held on.

The student athlete will need soccer cleats, soccer shin guards, and a soccer ball.  Fourth, fifth, and sixth grades use soccer ball size #4.  Seventh and eighth graders use soccer ball size #5.  Occasionally a sixth grader may play on the 7th grade team.  For games, blue shorts are needed to go with the soccer jersey provided by the Athletic Association.

Cross country is a sport in which athletes will learn to set personal goals, work hard, become self-motivated, and foster healthy life-style habits; Athletes will focus on setting and improving “PRs” (personal records) and race performances.

The season runs August 1st through October 16th. Grades 6, 7, 8 practice 4 days per week, 4th/5th, 2-3 days per week. There can be modified schedules for "dual-sport" athletes.  There are also summer run opportunities.  Practice occurs at St. Pius X and at various parks throughout the area. Parents are welcome to run or walk during conditioning runs especially those that occur at parks.

Cheerleading - Fall 2017

Kindergarten-8th Grade

During the 2017 season, practices will begin in early July, generally once or twice per week until the football games start.

The grade makeup of the cheerleading squad(s) depends upon the number of girls who participate. The squad(s) cheer at one football game per week during the football season from Mid-September through early November. Other activities for the squad are in consideration including a popular camping trip. Many of the girls also participate in other sports activities throughout the year.

The Athletic Association provides a uniform to wear at the games. It also provides shoes, bows, and undershirts. Football 2017 - Fall 2017

Academic Year 2017-2018

Boys, Grades 4-8

The season runs from August 7th through November 6th. Conditioning begins on August 7th with regular season practices beginning on August 14th. There are typically 3-4 practices per week which last approximately 2 hours. Practices are held at St. Pius X School.

Games begin on September 17th. There are 6-7 games during the season which includes a season ending tournament. Games are typically played on Sundays. Home games are played at Bishop Hartley High School and away games are played at other sites throughout the Diocese.

The student athlete will need to obtain football cleats and a mouth guard. All other equipment is provided.

2017 D1 Football Camp - Fall 2017

August 2nd - 3rd  --  6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at St. Pius X

The St. Pius X Football Program will offer a D1 Football Training Camp August 1st - 3rd. It is a 3 day camp, the first of which is held at the state of the art “D1” indoor training facility located at 8080 N. High St. Columbus, Ohio.

Days 2 and 3 of the camp occur at St. Pius X facilities and find the athletes having fun while participating in drills preparing them for the upcoming football season.

Each athlete should have football or soccer cleats to wear for camp activities.

EACH PARTICIPANT SHOULD BRING THEIR OWN WATER IN A QUANTITY APPROPRIATE FOR EARLY AUGUST TEMPERATURES.

Dates and times of the camp, and the “D-1” release form can be found by clicking the “Download” tab on this web site. The “D-1” release form must be downloaded, printed, signed by a parent or guardian and either emailed to Coach Hannah, or brought to the first day of the camp.

Volleyball 2017 - Fall 2017

Academic Year 2017-2018

Girls and Boys Grades 4 – 8

Volleyball is open to players of all experience and skill levels. The goal is to have one or more teams at each grade level, but this depends upon the level of participation. On the 4th through 6th grade teams experienced players are distributed evenly among the teams. The 7th and 8th grade players have a try-in and are then placed on teams by skill level.

There are generally two practices per week starting August 7th.  Practices are primarily held in the St. Pius X gym.

Games are played on the weekends and there are typically 10-12 games per season. Many of the games are played as double headers. Games are played at the various Diocesan Schools. The season ends with a diocesan post-season tournament beginning Oct 28th with the finals on November 4th. Fourth graders do not participate in this tournament.

Players do not need their own volleyball, but should purchase knee pads (any color is ok).  They should wear black shorts for games. If a team’s game is played at the St. Pius X gym, parent volunteers are needed to staff the admission table and the concession stand. Volunteer coaches are needed.
