WHO WE ARE

The Junior Riverhawks Youth Football & Cheer program is a family-first, volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to serving kids ages 5–14 who live within the Chiawana High School boundary in Pasco, WA. We offer instructional-based tackle football, flag football, 7-on-7 (7v7), and cheerleading programs focused on safety, development, and personal growth - not just winning.

OUR MISSION

To build confident, well-rounded athletes and strong teammates by teaching the fundamentals of football and cheer, while instilling values like respect, accountability, and integrity. We believe in developing good humans first - athletes second. That means coaching with consistency, compassion, and a long-term view of each child’s success both on and off the field.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

  • We’re not here to chase trophies (but, we of course love to win!). Our focus is skill development, sportsmanship, and life lessons through sport.
  • Our volunteers are parents, family members, community leaders, and business owners who give their time because they believe in the power of this program.
  • We put family first - you’ll hear us say it often, because it’s at the heart of everything we do.

When your child joins JRH, they’re not just on a team - they’re part of the Riverhawk Family.

OUR PROGRAMS

🏈 Tackle Football

Led by experienced, Heads-Up Certified coaches with over 25 years combined experience. We teach fundamentals, safety, and strategy to prepare players for high school-level play. Past accomplishments include the 2021 8th Grade Super Bowl Championship and multiple playoff appearances. Our goal is to teach the necessary fundamentals, safely, so they can continue to play high quality, high caliber football for our local high school.

🏈 Flag Football

Fall Season only. The program is open to grades kindergarten through 3rd grade.  Flag is a fun, non-contact introduction to the game.  Players wear flag belts and play on modified field sizes.  This is a great program for those who want to play and be part of a team.  Each child will learn the most important football rule:  Football is a listening game.  They will also learn how to throw, catch, and run.  Its a great way for siblings to take part in the action if they have an older sibling playing tackle.

🏈 7-on-7 (7v7)

Open to all skill levels, 7v7 emphasizes passing, coverage, and route running in a fast-paced, non-contact format. It's ideal for building football IQ and confidence, especially for kids not ready for full contact.

📣Cheerleading

Our cheer program is high-energy, inclusive, and led by coaches with competitive cheer experience. We focus on confidence, spirit, and teamwork. All skill levels welcome—from first-time cheerleaders to seasoned performers.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

🧭GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Football and cheer are about courage, respect, and discipline. JRH coaches and parents model these values at every practice and game. We teach fundamental techniques and life lessons that go far beyond the field.

🌟 Community

We proudly represent and support our Tri-Cities community. Our athletes participate in local events, promote local pride, and learn to be respectful, responsible citizens.

💪 Athletics

We develop full-body athletes—training agility, strength, coordination, and speed—while also building discipline, effort, and mental toughness through sport.

🎓 Academics

We require all athletes to maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. We recognize academic achievement and help kids build the focus and accountability needed to succeed in school and life.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Citizenship

Respect for coaches, teammates, opponents, referees, and facilities is expected and modeled. We’re teaching the next generation how to lead with humility and class.

🤝 Teamwork

Whether on the field or on the sidelines, teamwork drives everything we do. Each child learns how to contribute, communicate, and collaborate toward a common goal—while having fun doing it.
