Heritage Park Shelter is the perfect place for hosting small gatherings , whether it's a birthday party, baby shower, family reunion, or any special occasion. This shelter offers a range of amenities, including a BBQ grill, picnic tables, playground, electricity, restrooms, and a walking trail.
Located on Main Street just east of downtown Smithville, Heritage Park boasts a variety of amenities. Enjoy a playground, basketball court, shelter, restrooms, two lighted baseball fields, an unlit baseball field, open green space, and half-mile paved walking trail. Please note that restrooms will be closed from October 15th to April 15th.

Rental Timeframe:
You have the shelter reserved from 8am-11pm on your rental date.
Do I need to stay the whole time?
You are welcome to come and go during your reservation period. However, if you have items set up(tables, decor, supplies, etc), we recommend having an adult present at all times to prevent items from being blown away, damaged, or taken.
How many people can I have?
The max number of people is 50.
What if there is inclement weather?
If rain or severe weather is in the forecast, please contact the Parks and Rec Office to discuss options or rescheduling.
What if I need to cancel my rental?
Per our policy cancellations must be made two weeks prior to your event for a full refund.
What if I need to reschedule my rental?
Reschedules must be made two weeks prior to your event.
Can I use the shelter without a reservation?
Yes, our shelters are open to the public when not in use. However, to guarantee a spot for your event, we strongly recommend making a reservation. If you're using the shelter and a group with a reservation arrives, we kindly ask that you vacate the shelter promptly to honor their scheduled time.

Is there a restroom?
There are restrooms at this shelter.
Can I have inflatables, livestock or other additional things at my event?
If you plan to include any of the following at your event, you may be required to provide proof of insurance and/or obtain prior written approval from the Parks and Rec Department. Please notify aryan@smithvillemo.org if any of the following will be used
- Bounce house/inflatables
- Petting zoo or live animals
- Food truck or catering truck
- Portable stage or platform
- Tent larger than 10x10
- Live music or DJ
- Generator or electrical hookup
- Carnival games or amusement ride
- Mechanical rides
- Outdoor Movie screen/projector
- Alcohol
- Drone use or arial photography
Note: Approval must be requested no less than 30 days before the event. Failure to disclose any of the above may result in cancellation of your reservation.
