Cast a line and make a memory! Join Smithville Parks and Recreation and the Smithville Area Fire Protection District for a fun, family-friendly morning of fishing at Helvey Park. Kids will get the chance to fish alongside local firefighters, learn the basics of fishing, and spend time outdoors with their community heroes while learning how to fish safely. This program is great for children and their parents who have limited experience with fishing and want to learn the basics to fish on their own. All basic fishing supplies will be provided, and each child will receive a light packed lunch, drinks, and even a few prizes! This relaxed, hands-on event is perfect for families and a great way for kids to connect with our hometown firefighters while enjoying the simple joy of fishing.
