Coed Youth Basketball - Winter 2023

The purpose of the Amherst County Recreation Department’s Youth Basketball program is to give the youth of the county the opportunity 1) To participate in a team sport 2) To learn the skills and rules of basketball 3) To learn to use good sportsmanship, have fun, and meet new friends.

The Scouting Combine: All age groups are based on your age as of April 1st, 2024.

Coed Fundamentals ages 5-8yrs old - NO COMBINE
Boys Division 9 & 10 yrs old - Combine Wednesday, Nov 8th at 6pm

Boys Division 11 & 12 yrs old - Combine, Wednesday, Nov 8th at 7:30pm

Boys Division 13 & 14 yrs old - Combine Thursday, Nov 9th at 6pm

Boys Division 15 -18yrs old - Combine Thursday, Nov 9th at 7:30pm

Frequently Asked Questions
  • How long is the scouting Combine?: It should take 60min or less
  • Are all divisions coed?: The 5-6 and 7-8 yr old divisions are coed. All others are separated into boys and girls teams unless there is not enough players for a division and then they will become coed.
  • 5-6 and 7-8 Yr Old League: The coed 5-6 and 7-8 year old league is instructional based and while there will be a level of competition, it will be focused around drills and not a traditional basketball game.
  • When are practices?: Practices are one night a week for one hour
  • When are games?: For 9Yrs old and up, games will be on Saturday with the 15-18Yr olds playing on Sunday afternoons.
  • Who are the coaches?: Coaches are all volunteers. Typically, parents who have volunteered their time
  • Where do the teams play?: At one of the county's school gyms
  • Can I get a refund?: Refunds will be given regardless of reason prior to the start of the first practice or if we're unable to have a season due lack of players.
