Youth Biking

Our Youth Biking programs target children and families in our community with the mission of getting more kids on bikes. Holland Parks & Recreation's has partnered with Velo Kids to offer all the following Youth Biking programs.

Community Slow Roll/Bike Night
Join us for a laid-back community slow roll bike ride designed to get everyone out to enjoy our beautiful city on two wheels! No registration necessary – just show up, ride, and enjoy the evening. Coaches and volunteers will be there to help manage intersections so families and cyclists can focus on what matters: making new friends and reconnecting with old ones. In addition to the ride, we’ll have other exciting bike events, including a Littles Balance Bike Course* for our younger riders to develop their skills in a fun, supportive environment. There’s something for everyone. Come for the ride, stay for the fun!
*Adults will need to stay with children at the balance bike course. Only children learning to bike and on balance bikes allowed on the balance bike course.

Velo Kids Wheelhouse Open Hours
Have questions about Velo Kids, or just want a chance for you or your child to borrow a bike and take a ride around Window on the Waterfront? Join us this summer during the Wheelhouse Open Hours for a relaxed, drop-in space where you can ask questions and get helpful hints. This is a casual support session, not a coaching or training program. Whether you’re curious, need quick guidance, or just want to try out a bike, we’re here to help.
*Bikes are limited, only available to borrow during Open Hours and must stay at Window on the Waterfront

Youth Learn to Bike Programs

Velo Kids: Balance Buddies
Velo Kids and Holland Parks & Recreation are collaborating to bring you Balance Buddies. Come meet us on Fridays this summer as we stride, scoot, and get comfortable on balance bikes. We will play, be silly, hear stories, learn, and most importantly, have FUN on BIKES! No need to bring your balance bike from home, bikes and a helmet will be provided and waiting for your little ripper to borrow for the day, from Velo Kids bike library.

Suggested Age: 2 - 5 (Learning how to use a balance bike)

Velo Kids; Pedal Pals
New to 2 wheels or so close you can almost taste the freedom of 2 wheels? Well come hang out with us at Pedal Pals - Learn to Bike. Velo Kids and Holland Parks & Recreation are collaborating to bring young riders a place to practice and learn to bike. We will meet on Fridays this summer and play games, be silly, hear stories and have fun all while working on our bike skills. We will practice balance, starting and stopping safely and getting more comfortable on our awesome bikes. And did we mention that we will have FUN on BIKES! No need to bring your balance bike from home, bikes and a helmet will be provided and waiting for your little ripper to borrow for the day, from Velo Kids bike library.
