2024 Field Draft - Youth Baseball / Softball - Winter 2024

Register your youth baseball / softball team(s) today to be eligible for the 2024 Field Draft scheduled for Sunday, November 5, 2023.

If your team doesn't have the ability to pay with a credit card, you will be required to complete Field Draft Team Registration and return it with payment to the Team Sports office (3131 O St., Ste 300) by OCTOBER 27, 2023.

The 2024 Field Matrix has been posted below, but only shows what has been submitted by long-standing users, other leagues, and tournaments.  Please know, the availability of fields will change a few more times prior to the draft, but this is a starting point for some of you to begin your planning.

The 2024 field draft will be held online via ZOOM again. A link will be sent to all coaches and directors the Friday prior to the draft.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Where is the field draft?: The 2024 field draft will be held online via ZOOM. There will not be an "in person" draft.
  • When is the field draft?: Sunday, November 5, 2023. Check-in begins at 1:30 pm. Draft will begin promptly at 2 pm. Each representative should be prepared with a copy of the field matrix for their age group.
  • How many rounds is the Draft?: The draft will run for 10+ rounds and consist of 15 picks of 2-hour time blocks. 5 picks can be made back-to-back for double-header purposes ONLY. These 5 picks can be used during any round.
  • What happens to undrafted fields?: All un-drafted time blocks will be available by hour to be reserved via our online field reservation system at https://www.lincoln.ne.gov/aspx/city/athletics/default.aspx.
  • What if I need to release a field?: Call the Team Sports office. The exchange would be for a field that's OPEN on the online field reservation. ALL exchanges must be at least 2 weeks prior to the date you're requesting.
  • What about inclement weather?: If fields become unplayable by 4 pm, we will notify you. If fields become unplayable after 4 pm, or on the weekend, you have to make the call. Do not damage the fields, or risk injury of your players.
  • Do I get a new spot if I'm rained out?: Yes. If you're rained out, the soonest we will move your reservation will be the day after your rain out. DO NOT CALL THE DAY OF YOUR RAIN OUT.
  • When is insurance documentation due?: Insurance Certificate & Endorsement naming the City of Lincoln as “additional insured” is due by February 16, 2024. License agreements will be initiated when insurance documentation is submitted.
  • What if we no-show?: No-Shows should be avoided. No-Shows at Densmore will be assessed a $50.00 fee.
