Summer Cornhole League - Summer 2026

Round up your crew—or sign up solo—and get in the game with our Downtown Cornhole League at Water Works Park! Choose between a flexible team league or an individual league, both designed to keep things social, inclusive, and fun all season long.

Our team league goes beyond traditional doubles—build a team with multiple players and rotate in each week, making it easy to play with friends, coworkers, or family. Prefer to join on your own? The individual league is a great way to meet new people and enjoy some friendly competition in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Perfect for all skill levels, this laid-back league is all about good throws, great company, and soaking up summer along the riverfront. Each week brings friendly competition, plenty of laughs, and a chance to unwind in one of Minneapolis’ most iconic parks. So grab your team—or come as you are—and join us for a season of bags, brews, and downtown views!

Individual League: $35, starts at 6pm
Team League: $50, starts at 7pm

All leagues are casual, 4 weeks of play are guaranteed, with a 5th week scheduled to account for potential weather cancellations. If no cancellations occur, the league will not meet on the final scheduled date. Games take place at Water Works Park (425 West River Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55401).

Summer Grass Bocce League - Summer 2026

Step off the perfectly manicured path and into our Grass Bocce Ball League—where the terrain is as much a part of the game as the toss! Played on the charmingly unpredictable lawns of downtown Minneapolis, this league is equal parts strategy, laughter, and lighthearted adventure. Expect green walls of grass, surprise divots, and plenty of unexpected bounces as you navigate the quirks of the great urban outdoors. Perfect for players who don’t mind a little wobble with their win, this is bocce with character, community, and just the right amount of chaos.

This unique league rotates between multiple parks, giving you a fresh playing experience each week and a chance to explore some of the best green spaces downtown has to offer.

Two start times are available each night—6:00pm and 7:15pm—so you can pick what works best for your schedule. Teams require a minimum of two players, so grab a partner (or a few more) and get ready to roll!

All leagues are casual, with 4 weeks of play guaranteed and a 5th week scheduled to account for potential weather cancellations. If no cancellations occur, the league will not meet on the final scheduled date.

Summer Kubb League - Summer 2026

Step into a summer of strategy, skill, and Scandinavian fun with our Kubb League at Water Works Park! Whether you’re brand new to the game or already hooked, we’ve got a league for you.

New to Kubb? Our Beginner League at 6pm is the perfect place to start. You’ll learn the basics, build confidence, and play in a relaxed, supportive environment designed for beginners and those still getting the hang of the game.

Ready for a bit more competition? Our Intermediate League at 7:15pm is geared toward players who are familiar with Kubb and want to sharpen their strategy, improve their throws, and enjoy more competitive matchups.

Both leagues offer a fun, social atmosphere set against the scenic riverfront—perfect for meeting new people, enjoying summer evenings, and embracing a unique outdoor game. Whether you’re learning or leveling up, Kubb at Water Works Park is all about friendly competition, good vibes, and great company.

Summer Mölkky League - Summer 2026

Step into a summer of skill, strategy, and Nordic fun with our Mölkky League! This easy-to-learn, hard-to-master lawn game combines precision and a little bit of luck, making every match exciting and unpredictable. Whether you’re aiming for the perfect score or just enjoying time outdoors, Mölkky is all about friendly competition, good vibes, and great company.

This league rotates between multiple parks, giving you a fresh setting each week and the chance to explore some of the best green spaces downtown has to offer.

Choose how you play: sign up for the Individual League at 6:00pm and compete on your own while meeting new people, or join the Team League at 7:00pm and play with friends, coworkers, or family. The team format allows for multiple players, so you can rotate participants throughout the season and keep things flexible.

Adult Volleyball: Player Skills Clinics - Spring 2026

Designed for players of all skill levels. Whether you're a beginner looking to learn the basics or an experienced player aiming to refine your skills, our program will help you enhance your performance on the court.

We are offering six clinics at Lynnhurst Rec Center on Wednesday evenings. Clinics will be 1hr 15min.

Clinic Topics

Volleyball 101: This beginner adult volleyball clinic is designed for players who are new to the game or looking to build a strong foundation of basic skills. Participants will learn fundamental techniques, game rules, and teamwork in a supportive and fun environment.

Passing Fundamentals: This clinic focuses on improving volleyball ball control and developing consistent, effective passing techniques. Participants will practice passing and touch mechanics through skill drills designed to build accuracy, confidence, and control.

Serve, Attack & Block: This clinic will focus building skills through quality repetition. Learn the fundamentals of serving, attacking, blocking and reading the attacker.

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board offers recreational outdoor soccer leagues. Soccer games take place at various locations throughout the city of Minneapolis. Leagues are offered Sunday through Thursday.

Adult Tennis: Cardio Tennis - Summer 2026

Cardio Tennis with USTA Northern

Cardio Tennis is the ultimate high energy tennis-fitness activity, delivering a full-body, calorie-burning, aerobic & anaerobic workout experience!

This group exercise program is for anyone regardless of your tennis skill level by combining the best parts of tennis and fitness in a fun, energetic, and welcoming format. Players will get their hearts pumping through the warmup and cardio segments with unique Cardio Tennis games and high-energy music. You'll finish off with the reward of a well-earned cooldown.

Adult Flag Football - Spring 2026

Join our adult soccer clinic for an exhilarating blend of skill development, strategic gameplay, and a vibrant community atmosphere. Designed for players of all levels, our program offers expert coaching to enhance your technique, tactical understanding, and overall performance on the field. Adult Tennis: Park vs. Park Match Play - Summer 2026

Match Play with USTA Northern

Adult Match Play Series for Advanced Beginner to Intermediate players (NTRP rating under 3.0). This program is designed for developing players looking to gain match experience in a fun, team-based environment. (This is not intended for advanced or highly competitive players; players 3.0+ would be a great fit for USTA Flex Leagues!)

Instructors are on-site to assist with scoring, positioning, and strategy. Teams represent one of six home sites: Lake Hiawatha, Linden Hills, Lynnhurst, Morgan, Pershing, or Powderhorn. The season concludes with a playoff to determine the Park vs. Park Champions.

Teams consist of 8 players and compete during a 6-week season featuring both home and away matches. Competition is played primarily in doubles format, with occasional singles. Pairings and matchups are assigned weekly and will vary throughout the season to promote balanced play and team camaraderie. 

New for 2026 – Registration Process: Players register individually and select their top three preferred home sites, indicate their skill level (advanced beginner or intermediate), and may request placement with one mutual friend. Teams are formed based on site preference, skill balance, and one approved friend request.

Waitlist players may have opportunities to substitute during the season.

Tennis SERVES Up Fun in Minneapolis!

Have fun, stay in shape and meet new friends while playing the lifetime sport of tennis!

• 9 Week classes: May 30- August 7
  • Weather makeups August 3rd to 14th
  • Classes are scheduled for 9 weeks, with a 10th week added to make up any sessions cancelled due to weather.
  • A minimum of 8 sessions is guaranteed, including any makeups during the rain week.
• Loring Lessons:
  • 6-week class
  • May 30- July 18 (No class 6/27 or 7/4)

Class Options

Beginner - Classes are for those who have little or no tennis experience.  Learn the basic strokes and begin to rally. All participants will receive a new tennis racquet.      

Advanced Beginner – Classes are for those continuing to develop their stroke consistency and accuracy while working on ball tracking, movement and consistency. 

Drill and Play - Fun, Fitness and Friends is the name of the game! Join us on court for group drills and match play. This class is for players who have some tennis experience and know basic strokes and game scoring. Players will play a mix of organized hitting with multiple players and match play each week.

All classes are group lessons taught by USTA-trained instructors.

Adult Broomball Spring League - Spring 2026

Join our indoor broomball league to keep the fun going all spring long! Leagues are open to anyone ages 18 and up. Broomball is similar to ice hockey, but is played with shoes instead of skates, uses a ball rather than a puck and broom-shaped sticks versus regular hockey sticks. The objective of the game is to try to score more goals than your opponent. Gather your friends, bring your brooms and hit the ice.

Adult Sand Volleyball: Happily Ever After: A Fairytale Sand Tournament - Spring 2026

Step into the sand for Happily Ever After: A Fairytale Sand Tournament, where sunshine, storybook magic, and spirited rallies come together. Grab your crew, dress the part if you wish, and chase match point like your own fairytale ending. 

Team up and sign up! This is for team registration only. Teams will play 6 person rules. Tournament will be held at the Wirth Beach sand courts.

Adult Sand Volleyball: Individual Player Registration - Summer I 2026

Our adult volleyball individual registration program offers an exciting opportunity for adults to join our vibrant volleyball community. Register as an individual player and immerse yourself in thrilling matches, improve your skills, and build lasting connections with fellow volleyball players.

Leagues Offered (6-person play)

• Our Open B league will provide a fun and slightly competitive environment to enjoy the game of volleyball.
• Our Open C league will provide a fun and recreational environment to enjoy the game of volleyball.

This program is for individuals looking to join a volleyball team on Thursdays between 5:30pm & 8:30pm at Bohemian Flats Park.

After completing registration, MPRB league directors will form up volleyball teams for a 7-week season with officiated games.

Adult Grass Volleyball: Self Officiated - Summer I 2026

Get together with friends and join a Grass Volleyball League. Leagues are split into divisions according to difficulty. Leagues are Co-Ed & Open Divisions (everyone welcome). These leagues are self-officiated.

McRae Park on Thursday nights

(A division) Skilled players who understand but may not have completely mastered the dynamics and strategies of rotations. The division focuses on more position specific roles, defensive and offensive strategies and serve receive rotations.

(B division) Players who have learned the basic skills of serving, passing and making three contacts with a team strategy of defense, offense and rotations that will make them successful.

(C division) Players who are relatively new to the game of officiated volleyball or in the process of learning the basic skills of accurate serving, passing, making 3 contacts, creating a consistent strategy and team environment.

USAV Rules are enforced with MPRB modifications. All matches for 4 and 6-person. Teams must provide their own regulation volleyball. Matches will consist of three sets with rally scoring up to 25. All 3 sets count in the standings.

Adult Sand Volleyball Summer II - Wirth - Summer II 2026

Get together with friends and join a Sand Volleyball League.

USAV Rules are enforced with MPRB modifications. All matches for 2, 4, and 6 person leagues will be officiated by MPRB officials. Matches will consist of three sets with rally scoring. All 3 sets count in the standings.

New Spring 2026! Get together with friends and join a MPRB indoor volleyball league. USAV Rules are enforced with MPRB modifications. All matches will be officiated by MPRB officials. Matches will consist of three sets with rally scoring up to 25. All 3 sets count in the standings.

Divisions: Co-Ed & Open (Open has no gender restrictions).

Looking to join a league but don’t have a team? Register as an individual to be placed on a house team!

After registration, MPRB league directors will form teams from individual registrants for our 12-week spring leagues.

Free Agent: Spring/Summer - Spring 2026

We are using a new system for free agent registration! 

Your $10 free agent registration fee will now allow you to register as a free agent for as many sports as you would like!

To get set up, complete your registration and pay the $10 fee. In your receipt, you will receive links to free agent contact information forms for each sport we offer. Fill out your contact information and preferences on the form for the sport(s) you would like to play. We will share your contact information with managers in each sport that you submit a form for!

By registering, your information will be shared with team managers looking to add players to their rosters and/or subs.

• Registration as a Free Agent does not guarantee placement on a team.
• This is a non-refundable fee.
• If you're invited to join a team, you may be asked to contribute to the team entry fee, determined by the team.

League Fees: $100.00 for 9 weeks (*ONE registration per TEAM*)

Format: Doubles (no gender requirement)

Spring League Dates: April 13 – June 25 (League dates vary by night and location)

Spring League Times:

• McRae – 6, 7, 8, & 9pm
• All other sites: dependent on daylight
  • 5:30, 6:20, and 7:10pm (April-May)
  • 6:00, 6:50, and 7:40pm (May-July)

Spring League Locations:

Levels Offered:

• Beginner: Little to no pickleball experience; learning basic strokes and beginning to rally; working on serving and volleying (Skill Level 1–1.5)
• Beginner Plus: Teams that have played in the beginner league or have played socially, looking to build on skills and gain comfort on the court before advancing to intermediate (Skill Level 2–2.5)
• Intermediate: Teams who know the basic strokes and are working on improving consistency in ball tracking, court movement, and strokes; ready for introductory social match play (Skill Level 2.5–3)
• Advanced: Teams working on stroke consistency and accuracy, while building on aggressive net play, court coverage, and match strategy; ready for organized competitive play (Skill Level 3+)

Adult Pickleball Lessons: Spring - Spring 2026

Intro to Pickleball - This 4 week class meets for 2 hours each session. The class is intended for those new to the game of pickleball. Participants will learn the basics of the game and develop skills to advance their pickleball game.

• Tuesdays April 28–May 19 Lake Nokomis (10am–noon)
• Rain makeup: May 26

Intro to Pickleball 2 - This 4 week class meets for 2 hours each session. The class is intended for those who have completed Intro to Pickleball or are already familiar with the game. Participants will focus on drills, strategy, and games intended to improve their pickleball game.
