FAQ

FREE AGENTS

If your child does not have a team, they will be put on the "free agent" list. Parents/ Player will be notified if the sports staff cannot find a team for the player. If your player is on the "free agent"/"need coach team", that means we need a parent from the team to coach this season and be a volunteer coach for the team. Please contact richardsonsports@ymcadallas.org if you can be a volunteer coach. **YMCA reserves the right to add any player(s) to a roster if necessary.

FRIEND/COACH REQUESTS

The Richardson YMCA staff recognizes the value of playing on a team with a friend. Playing with a friend help keep kids in sports and make the experience more fun. Friendships can also be important for good sportsmanship and creating memories. Meeting new teammates who become friends is fun as well as an opportunity to make lifelong friends and learn new skills. Friend/Coach requests are accepted on registration forms but are not guaranteed.

Divisions

Division are determined by the grade the participant is in at the beginning of the school year. ALL SUMMER sports are based off the grade they are currently attending meaning if they are in 3rd grade going into 4th grade, they will play in the 3rd grade league. Participants are not allowed to play down a grade division and are only allowed to play up.

If we do not have enough to separate the divisions by grade then we will use the following: Pre-K/Kinder, 1st/2nd,3rd/4th,5th/6th,7th/8th.

Practice and Game Schedules

Practices are held once a week for 1 hour Sunday - Thursday. The practice day and time will be determined by the volunteer head coach. The only way to guarantee a practice day and time that works for you and your family is to be the head coach. Practice typically begin two weeks before the first game.

All sports games will be played primarily on Saturdays with the exception of Flag Football (Friday nights). Depending on the number of teams we have in a league, games could be played on week nights. When creating a game schedule we look to play younger teams in the morning with older teams finishing the day.

Rainout Policy

Decisions about cancelling games will be made by 3:00PM for night games or 6:30AM for morning games. In the event of multiple rainouts games could be played throughout the week.

Rainout will be rescheduled no sooner than 72 hours after the rained out game.

Practices located at a Richardson parks can call 972-744-4301 for up to date field status
