Cookies with Mrs. Claus - Dec. 7th - Winter 2025

Join us December 7th for an afternoon of fun with Mrs. Claus!  Each participant will get to decorate (and eat!) cookies, drink hot cocoa, make a holiday craft, write a letter to Santa, and take photos with Mrs. Claus!

Parents do NOT need to register themselves if they are not planning to decorate their own cookies. Please no more than 2 accompanying adults per child registered.

There are two available time slots for this event: 1:00-2:30pm, and 2:30-4:00pm.  Cost is $17 per participant (parent must remain on-site).  This event will take place at the Multipurpose Center (the library building) located at 202 Washington Ave. S. in Orting.

ADULTS - If you would like to decorate cookies, you will need to add yourself as a "child" to your account.  To do this, go to My Account, click Members, then click Add Child.  Enter your information then click Add.  You should then be able to register.

Craft Class - Yarn Wrapped Trees - Winter 2025

Join us for a fun evening of crafting on Thursday December 11th, 2025 from 6:00-7:00pm.  In this class you will create three beautiful yarn-wrapped trees (similar to the ones in the photo). All supplies and step-by-step instruction included! Cost is $25 per person. Children ages 12 and older welcome. Contact us for help enrolling a child by calling or texting 253-262-7842.

Holiday Movie Night Dec. 19th - Winter 2025

Join us at 6:30pm on December 19th at the Multipurpose Center in the Orting Library for a family holiday movie night! We will be showing the movie Elf (rated PG).  Cost is $5 per person (under 3 are free) and includes popcorn and hot cocoa! Folding chairs will be provided but feel free to bring low-backed chairs, blankets and pillows! We will have some mats on the floor for children to sit on. THIS IS NOT A DROP-OFF EVENT - ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT.

Adult Dance Fitness - Fall II 2025

We now offer a "drop-in" option for this class! You still must register and pay prior to class.  Please bring your order confirmation to class.

We are excited to announce that our Dance Fitness class now includes SHiNE Dance Fitness routines! In this class you'll move to the beat, burn calories, and have a blast!  Learn simple fitness routines to the latest hits and favorites from across the decades! All ages (18+) and fitness levels welcome! This class takes place at the Multipurpose Center (the library building) located at 202 Washington Ave. S. in Orting on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:00pm. The cost is $51 per 6-week session. $9 per drop-in.

The Fall 2 2025 session will have 6 classes. First class starts November 4, 2025.

Adult Line Dancing - Tuesdays - Fall II 2025

We now offer a "drop-in" option for this class! You still must register and pay prior to class.  Please bring your order confirmation to class.

Join us Tuesday nights and learn how to line dance!  Line dances will range from beginner to intermediate level. All ages (18+) and fitness levels welcome! This is a great way to get moving, make friends, and have fun! Class takes place at the Multipurpose Center (the library building) located at 202 Washington Ave. S. in Orting on Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00pm. Cost is $51 per 6-week session. $9 per drop-in.

The Fall 2 2025 session will have 6 classes - first class starts November 4, 2025.

Playgroup, Ages 0-5 - Winter 2026

Join us every Monday from 10:30-11:30am for free-play and other activities for ages 0-5!  A variety of toys, crafts, and other activities will be set up each week. PARENT MUST REMAIN ON SITE.  Advance registration is required and occurs on a monthly basis.  Cost is $5 per participant per month. Class takes place in the Multipurpose Room at the Orting Library, located at 202 Washington Ave. S. in Orting.

Music Class, Ages 2-5 - Winter 2026

*ADDITIONAL TIME SLOT JUST ADDED!* We now have two time slots for this class, 10:00-10:30am and 10:45-11:15am.

Join us Thursdays from 10:00-10:30am for musical fun! Kids will learn about music through singing, moving and exploring using finger play, nursery rhymes, music games, and instrument exploration. Parent must remain on site.  Cost is $38 per child. Classes take place at the Multipurpose Center located at the Orting Library.

• The Winter 1 2026 Session is 6 weeks long with 6 classes.  First class begins January 8th, 2026.
• The Winter 2 2026 Session is 6 weeks long with 6 classes. First class begins February 19th, 2026.

Wiggles & Giggles, Ages 3-5 - Winter 2026

Join us Fridays from 11:15-12pm and tumble, dance and giggle your way through this fun movement class for preschoolers.  Participants will learn simple tumbling and dance techniques.  Parent participation may be required at first class. The Winter 2026 session has 6 classes. First class 1/30/26. There will be class 2/13/26 (OSD snow makeup day). Cost is $54.

Winter Youth Dance - Winter 2026

The 2026 Winter Dance Session is 6 weeks long with 6 total classes.  NO RECITAL FOR THIS SESSION. Cost is $54. Click "More Info" for class days and times. Classes are held at the Multi-purpose center at 202 Washington Ave. S in Orting. Monday classes begin January 26th, 2026.  Friday classes begin January 30th, 2026. Classes will be held on Feb. 13th (snow makeup day) AND Feb.16th (President's Day).

Recommended Dance Attire:

• All classes: Any color tights and leotards for girls, comfortable pants and t-shirt for boys.
• Ballet classes: Pink ballet shoes for girls, black ballet shoes for boys (leather bottoms, no dance slippers).
• Tap & Jazz classes: Black tap shoes and black jazz shoes.
• Please do not allow your child to wear any of their dance shoes outside and write their name in their shoes.
• No baggy/oversized or revealing clothing.

Winter Adult Jazz Dance - Winter 2026

Join us every Monday at 7:15pm for Jazz dance class!  This is class is fun and for everyone! 

The Winter 2025 session has 6 classes. First class begins January 26th.  Classes will be held on Feb. 13th (snow makeup day) AND Feb.16th (President's Day).

Class takes place in the Multipurpose Room at the Orting Library located at 202 Washington Ave S in Orting.

Please bring a yoga mat or large towel for stretching.

Strength Fitness Class - Winter 2026

*NEW DAY AND TIME!*

This class includes weight training and abdominal work. Participants should bring a set of medium/heavy weights (1-10lbs) if possible, water bottle, hand towel, and a yoga mat. After a quick warm up, strength work will include alternating between upper body and lower body weightlifting exercises set to music. Then we will bring out our mats to complete our session on the floor with some abdominal work and stretching. All ages (18+) and abilities welcome!

This class takes place every THURSDAY from 6:00-7:00pm at the Multipurpose Center (the library building) located at 202 Washington Ave. S. in Orting. The cost is $34 per 4-week session. $9 per drop-in.

Beginner Yoga - Winter 2026

This beginner friendly yoga flow class provides a great opportunity to practice your asanas (poses) with other yogis, as well as stretch and move in a welcoming environment. The class is vinyasa style, which includes moving through poses seamlessly, holding each pose for a few breaths, with a variety of restful poses incorporated to allow participants opportunities to rest or modify movements as needed. Please bring a yoga mat and water bottle; you may also bring a large towel or small blanket and/or yoga blocks if you have them. All ages (18+) and abilities welcome.

This class takes place every FIRST & THIRD THURSDAY of the month from 7:00-8:00pm at the Multipurpose Center (the library building) located at 202 Washington Ave. S. in Orting. The cost is $9 per class.

Painting Class 1/11/26 - Winter 2026

Join us for a fun afternoon of painting on Sunday January 11th, 2026 from 1:00-3:00pm.  All supplies and step-by-step instruction by Rec Instructor Jane included! The painting will be feet in front of the fire (see photo).  Cost is $25 per person.goo

Event Vendor - Dec. 6th Home for the Holidays - Winter 2025

This enrollment is only for individuals and businesses that would like to be added as vendors for the City of Orting's 2025 Home for the Holidays Festival.  FOOD VENDORS - Please contact us by emailing recreation@cityoforting.org or call 253-262-7842 BEFORE ENROLLING!

Event Details:

• December 6th, 2025, 4:00-7:00pm
• Orting Main City Park, 101 Train St. SW, Orting 98360
• Set-up begins at 2:00pm on December 6th. Vendor placement will be at the discretion of the city.
• Orting business license NOT required.
• $20 Vendor Fee.
• Event takes place outdoors, rain or shine.
• Approved vendors will have (1) one 10-foot by 10-foot space reserved for their use for this event.  
• Please register multiple times if you would like more space.
• THE CITY DOES NOT LIMIT THE AMOUNT OR TYPE OF VENDORS FOR THIS EVENT.  If your organization does not allow duplicate representatives at events, please contact the city BEFORE you register.
• Food vendors must provide proof of insurance and a certificate citing the City of Orting as additional insured.
• Food vendors must be licensed and follow all regulations from the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.

Portable Restroom Rental (1 unit) - Annual 2025

This enrollment is to pay for a portable restroom unit to be placed at your Special Event or Trail Event.  If you would like more than one unit, please register multiple times. You must submit either the corresponding Special Event Application or Trail Use Application in addition to this enrollment. Please note this fee is non-refundable.
