JR CADETS FALL FOOTBALL - Fall 2025

The Yakima Jr. Cadets are a part of the Columbia Basin Youth Football league (CBYF). The CBYF aligns perfectly with our mission and vision for youth football. The league consists of 40 organizations from all across Central Washington, the Columbia Basin, and Northeast Oregon!

The Yakima Jr. Cadets will have 7 divisions. Kindergarten/1st Grade Flag Football, 2nd/3rd Grade Rookie Tackle Football, 4th Grade Tackle, 5th Grade Tackle, 6th Grade Tackle, 7th Grade Tackle & 8th Grade Tackle. 

The Yakima Jr. Cadets aim to advance youth performance through the game of football, as well as other areas of life, such as teamwork, respect, work ethic, accountability and leadership. We have teamed up with Yakima area high schools to focus on player development for high school football readiness. All teams will be lead by a top tier USA Football certified coaching staff, that teach proper football techniques as well as respect of the game.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • When does the season start?: First team held practice will begin July 28th.
  • What is the practice schedule?: Practice are Monday - Thursday from 6-8pm at Sozo starting July 28th to Aug 29th. Starting Sept 1st practices will be from 5:30-7:00pm Tue, Wed & Fri until further notice.
  • How are the teams broken up?: Teams are divided by players grade level entering during the fall season.
  • What are the weight limits?: CBYF does not have overall player weight limits. Players weight limits are limited to "ball carriers" for the 4th (110lbs) & 5th (120lbs) grade levels.
  • How long is the season?: Regular season starts September 6th with games on Sept 6th, Sept 13th, Sept 20th, Sept 27th, Oct 4th, Oct 11th. Post season begins Oct 18th & ends Nov 1st.
  • What equipment is provided?: We will check out helmets & shoulder pads that will be fitted to your athlete. Closer to the season we will check out game jerseys & pants. These items must be returned at the end of the season.
  • What equipment do we have to provide?: All players must have cleats, mouth guard and a practice jersey or large t-shirt to wear over the pads during practices. Practice pants are also recommended.
  • How do you send out updates/reminders?: We utilize the TeamReach app. Use code 3004 (tackle 4th-8th) & 2998 (flag K-3rd) to stay updated. We will also post on Facebook general updates. However, ALL parent/player required updates will be made on Team Reach.
