2025 BYB Rec Baseball & Softball - Spring 2025

Registration for the 2025 BYB Rec League now OPEN.

Founded in 1958, Belvidere Youth Baseball has evolved to one of the area's largest youth sports organizations for young athletes in Boone County. The Ross-Fish Youth Sports Complex is located on Fairgrounds Road (Route 76) in Belvidere, just north of the Boone County Fairgrounds. The organization includes in-house teams from ages 4 to 14 as well as tournament teams at many levels in both baseball and softball.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • What age group do I sign up for?: For baseball, players age on April 30th 2024 is the age they play in. For softball, players age on January 1st 2024 is the age they play in.
  • What are tryouts?: The tryout is more of a player evaluation. There are no cuts and anyone that registers will be on a team. These tryouts allow us to make the teams as even as possible.
  • When are the tryouts?: Baseball tryouts are on Saturday, March 1st. Softball tryouts are on Sunday, March 8th. For times, please visit our website: https://belvidereyouthbaseball.com/page/60/tryout-schedule
  • Is there a tryout for 6U?: There will be a "meet your team" and Parent meeting prior to the season for 6U. Details will be sent to all participants at a later date.
  • Do I have to attend tryouts?: If you are new to BYB or moving up to a new age level, YES, you need to be at tryouts. If you are a returning player in the same age level, you should NOT attend tryouts.
  • When will we be assigned to a team?: The Coaches draft day is Sunday March 16th. Coaches will be contacting their players the week of March 17th.
  • Can I sign a full or partial team up?: No. All player registrations are individual and players either new to BYB or to an age group will be drafted per league rules. Siblings will be drafted together if in the same age group.
  • How do I become a Head Coach?: To be considered for a Head Coaching position, please fill out our Coaches application by visiting: https://www.teamsideline.com/sites/BelvidereYouthBaseball/form/5412/Coaching-Application
  • I want to help Coach, who do I talk to?: If you want to help your team out, please make the Coach aware of that when he/she calls you after the teams are picked.
  • When are the practices?: Teams may begin practices after the draft. Most teams practice 2-3 times per week during the pre-season, and 1-2 times per week during the season. Dates/Times are at the Coaches discretion.
  • When is the first game?: First games for 10U, 12U, and 14U baseball begin the week of April 14th. First games for 6U and 8U baseball, along with softball, will begin the week of April 28th.
  • How often are games?: There are typically one to two games per week. Game days can be any day Mon-Fri.
  • Are there weekend games?: Weekends are used for rain make up days and special events such as Picture Day and the Ice Cream Social. Check our calendar for details.
  • When does the season end?: Championship games will be played on Wednesday, July 2nd.

  • Does my Athlete need any equipment?: Each player must have his/her own glove. Also, each player must have his/her own pair(s) of grey baseball/softball pants. For health and sanitary reasons, each player needs their own batting helmet.
