WEATHER GUIDELINE

The Maricopa Recreation Department will consider canceling or modifying activities if any of the following conditions are met: 
  • Severe weather warnings (e.g., thunderstorms, lightning, heavy rain, extreme temperatures) are issued by relevant authorities. 
  • Lightning closer than 10 miles away will cause immediate closure. 
  • Conditions pose a significant risk to the health and safety of participants, coaches, or spectators. 
  • Play could cause damage to the fields. 

Cancellation Communication:

Cancellations or modifications due to adverse weather conditions will be communicated promptly to coaches and parents via announcements and email through Team Sideline

In the absence of a designated authority, coaches are given the authority to cancel practice due to severe weather, but must notify City staff and ensure each player's parent is notified.

  • Coaches should not cancel games unless directed by staff. 
  • Cancelled games and practices due to weather will not be guaranteed to be rescheduled.
