What is Pinto 8U Softball
Pinto 8U Softball provides an exciting next step for young athletes (ages 7–8) moving beyond introductory tee-ball. The division supports skill advancement while keeping the game fun, confidence-building, and development-focused.
Philosophy / Skill Development
Teaches core softball mechanics: proper throwing, catching, batting stance, glove work, field awareness, and situational decision-making.
Encourages players to try multiple positions as they begin identifying strengths.
Maintains a positive instructional environment while introducing competitive structure.
Game Format
Pinto 8U Softball uses coach pitch.
Inning structure uses traditional outs and/or run limits.
Coaches provide real-time instruction but begin stepping back to give players more independence.
Field Dimensions (Fast-Pitch / Slow-Pitch)
Base paths: 60 feet
Pitching distance: 35–40 feet depending on division rules
Outfield fence or home-run line: 150–175 ft
Gameplay Highlights
No leading off; stealing is limited or not permitted depending on local rules.
Focus on putting the ball in play, teaching defensive responsibilities, and improving throwing accuracy.
Encourages teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship.
