What is Pony 14U Softball
Pony 14U Softball is the final youth division for athletes ages 13–14 before moving on to high school play. This division closely resembles regulation fast-pitch softball, introducing the full pace and intensity players will experience at school and competitive travel levels. Players at this stage focus on advanced mechanics, position specialization, higher velocity, quicker reaction times, and more strategic gameplay.

Base paths: 60 feet
Pitching distance: 43 feet (fast-pitch regulation)
Outfield fence: 200–225 feet depending on field
Full regulation bases, pitching rubber, and plate setup
Game Play & Rules Highlights
Full player-pitch fast-pitch softball
Base stealing allowed
Drop-third-strike rule applies (league-dependent but common at this level)
Infield fly rule, illegal pitch rules, and other regulation high-school-style rules enforced
Pitchers throw with more velocity and may use multiple pitch types (fastball, changeup, drop, rise, curve, etc.)
Offensive strategy includes slap hitting, squeeze plays, advanced bunting, and situational hitting
Defensive strategy includes cut-offs, rotations, communication, and high-level reaction play
