Baseball What is Pony 14U

Pony 14U is the highest youth division before players transition into high school baseball. Designed for athletes ages 13–14, this level mirrors true competitive baseball played on larger fields with nearly full-size regulations. The game is faster, more strategic, and more physically demanding. Players refine advanced mechanics, sharpen baseball IQ, and prepare for the pace and expectations of high school programs.

Field & Game Specifications

Base paths: 80 feet or 90 feet (league-dependent; PONY recognizes both) 

Pitching distance: 54 feet (for 80' diamonds) 60'6" (for 90' diamonds) 

Outfield fence: Typically 275–300+ feet 

Full regulation home plate, mound, and bases 

Leads, steals, pick-offs, balks, and advanced situational play fully enforced

Game Play & Rules Highlights

Full player pitching using standard baseball mechanics and advanced pitch types 

Runners may lead off and steal at any time 

Balk rules fully apply 

Double plays, cutoffs, relays, defensive shifts, and bunt coverages become standard 

Strategy becomes a major component, pitch counts, situational hitting, base-path pressure, and in-game adjustments 

Games mirror high-school-style play with competitive scoring and standings
